5. What are the physical properties of NESA® technology?
NESA® technology is based on a combined symmetrical two-phase current (with single-phase components depending on the programme), low frequency, and limited intensity. At some points in the stimulus process, certain sequences of the different programmes utilise low-frequency single-phase current supplies.
Voltage
The neuromodulation parameters are preset in each programme, with the exception of the voltage, which can be set to 3V or 6V.
Frequency
The frequency of application is minimal, being considered a microcurrent. It ranges from 1.14 to 14.28 Hertz. The frequency varies according to the programmes, where it can be fixed or oscillate between scales.
Intensity
The amperage or current ranges from 0.1 to 0.9 mA. The voltage is set as explained above at 3 or 6 volts.
Therefore, the potential difference generated is very weak since the application is located in areas of low impedance. These characteristics mean that, although Ohm's law is applied, no potential differences develop such as to produce polar effects.
Thanks to the trial-and-error studies of the patent, physical characteristics and parameters were determined for each programme based on the application objectives (it is recommended to read the description of each programme carefully to understand its parameters).
6. What are NESA® Microcurrents?
NESA® Non-Invasive Neuromodulation is based on an imperceptible surface treatment of micro electrical currents generated by the device called XSIGNAL®, through low impedance areas of the skin. The biostimulatory effect of the electric current is multiplied by the 24 input pathways that structurally cover the entire body, via four electrodes, one on each extremity, and a fifth electrode called a directional electrode.
NESA® medical technology was developed based on the basic principle of electrical stimulation for the modulation of the autonomic nervous system and pain. These electrical stimuli produce variations in neuronal electrical potentials, mimicking different electrical patterns. Developed at the end of the 20th century by a team of Japanese scientists and engineers, 21 years of trial-and-error studies established the low-impedance nerve input pathways used today, as well as the electrical sequences of each programme and the effects produced. The aim was, and still is, to achieve results by using a minimal but adequate current to influence the organism's information processing system. In this sense, the NESA® microcurrent generator allows the electrical signal (input) and creates the possibility of modulating the nervous system by means of a current without polar effects, without side effects, imperceptible and capable of modulating small calibre nerve fibres.
NESA® global neuromodulation can be applied to different clinical scenarios. In the case of dysfunctions or symptoms secondary to the excitation and tension of the cerebral and nervous, musculoskeletal, visceral and/or vascular systems, this technology restores functions in the medium or long term, as if it were training for the nervous system. It is also indicated in those conditions that require the restoration of sleep quality and cases in which there are complications with psychosomatic consequences, imbalances or involvement of the autonomic nervous system.
Having the ability to positively influence the ANS orients this technology towards various health fields: rehabilitation, nursing, neurology, internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, psychology, dermatology, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, sports medicine, home treatment, preventive medicine and physiotherapy in all its variants. It is a growing and scientifically advancing technology with the capacity to open up future frontiers.
7. Which patients benefit from NESA® Microcurrents?
NESA® Non-Invasive Neuromodulation is an advanced technique that offers significant benefits to a wide range of patients, especially those experiencing conditions related to imbalances in the autonomic nervous system. Patients who benefit most from this technology include those with:
Chronic pain, neuropathic pain, and inflammatory problems: Positively affects the vagus nerve, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of chronic pain and systemic inflammation.
Anxiety and states of hypervigilance: Improves the feeling of physical anxiety and reduces hypervigilance, providing a state of calm and relaxation.
Insomnia and sleep dysfunctions: Enhances the patient's REM and NON-REM phases, increasing the quality of sleep.
Overactive bladder and/or urinary incontinence: NESA® microcurrents reduce voiding frequency and improve voiding control.
Fatigue and metabolic problems: NESA® microcurrents can support mitochondrial metabolism, improving energy levels and reducing fatigue.
Tissue regeneration: Ideal for patients undergoing traumatic or post-surgical recovery processes, favouring the reconstruction of damaged tissues.
Specific conditions: Includes a variety of conditions such as sexual dysfunctions, nervous atopic dermatitis, bruxism, headaches, neurological problems, constipation, and more, offering a systemic and holistic approach to treatment by ensuring the autonomic nervous system is in a proper vagal tone.
NESA® Non-Invasive Neuromodulation stands out for its ability to provide a holistic solution, working in synergy with the body to promote self-regulation and overall wellness. It is a valuable therapeutic option for those seeking relief from various health conditions, exploring beyond conventional solutions and applying innovative approaches to healthcare.
